Light or heavy racket or the stroke

Strokes

I am currently using a bit heavy racket and I really want to be offensive player. But it is very hard to lift the backspinning ball. I want to give it a lot of topspin to it as well. I am wondering whether i'd better use lighter racket....

Hi Jimmy,

A lighter bat is just a matter of preference.  You can lift a heavy backspin with either a heavy or light bat.

I would rather think about your technique of the Forehand Topspin Off Backspin that you can see as part of our lessons.

Forehand Counterhit

The forehand counterhit or forehand drive is the foundation for more attacking strokes such as the forehand topspin or forehand loop. There are 3 critical factors:

  1. Your feet position
  2. Your start position
  3. Your finish position

If you concentrate on these 3 factors then your stroke will become extremely consistent. Once you can reliably hit 100 balls in a row then you are ready for more attacking strokes. If you can hit 1,000 balls on in a row then you know you've truly mastered the stroke.
