Hi Parakram,

The long pimples can be useful but can also be difficult to get used to.

I think the first thing to do is get used to the feel of the ball on it and the different reactions the ball has when it hits the pimples.

Once you do this you will find you get some advantages from it.

We have just done a lesson on the Long Pimple Chop Block for our Premium members as well.

Hi Parakram,

They don't add power in fact they are more for absorbing power so they are quite slow.  They are also good at absorbing spin.

So if they really dont help in neither adding power nor adding spin or anything positive, why were they created at all :D

Its for defense. And balls come off the rubber in a different way than with NI rubbers, which is not what many players are used to. Often it confuses opponents to play vs long pimples. Playing vs NI rubbers you would expect a ts return from a ts stroke, which will not be the case with long pimples. Many have issues with that.

But main stregnth is that one can nicely defend with long pimples, choping with it one can put a lot of backspin on the ball, absorb incoming spin and speed from opponent. Even for topplayers its not easy to play vs long pimples. It costs a lot of energy to lift the backspin, forcing errors eventually.

Joo se hyuk is atm the best defender imo.

Dude, if you bought LP because you thought you'd be able to hit with more spin and power, then you might have to change back to normal inverted rubber.  The main advantage of LP is that it reacts so differently from regular inverted.  A lot of people are only used to playing regular inverted rubbers and can have trouble adapting against LP.  But yes, for many LP players, the ability to deceive opponents about the spin of the ball (especially on your chops) is an essential skill.  I've been using LP now for almost a year, and still consider myself a beginner.

Hi Parakram...

I just bought butterfly 303 shakehand (1 side NI yuki rubber and other LP magnitude).  Can you tell me your experience with the LP magnitude rubber? I play more as a chopper...  How is this rubber for chopping??

Yogesh
