Hi Anirudh,

Keep working on the technique.  Make sure your contact is correct so that you are getting enough topspin on the ball so that it has a good dipping flight path. This will help you to get the ball on the table more.

If you are improving, then keep working hard and it wil get even better.

Forehand Chop

The forehand chop is a defensive stroke played away from the table. It is mainly used by defenders but can also be incorporated into an attackers game when forced away from the table.

Yah, I also have this problem. I think it is very hard for me to look at the ball and loop it. I also tend to be in the "attack position" when I want to loop a loose ball, which kills because I tend to be nervous, therefore, I missed. I wanted to ask, whether does a player need to contact the ball FLATT first then brush the ball? Or else the ball will end up in the net. May I know does this principle applies in topspining the ball?

You need to contact the ball with a brushing action.  If you are missing the ball then flatten out the contact a little to get more consistency of contact.

The loop is not just one stroke. it is different for whatever incoming spin is on the ball you are trying to loop. the one thing that stays the same is that you have to get a fast long swing and really brush the ball thinly. if you are looping a backspin ball you are brushing up the back of the ball vertically. against a no-spin or topspin you brush more horizontally over the top of the ball at between 1 to 2 oclock.  best way to get used to it is with a robot. and get advice from time to time from a good coach.
