Strokes
Hi Alois and Jeff, I’ve seen lots of your impressive videos that mention the need to have a loose grip of the racket - are there any occasions where’s there a need to have a tight grip of the racket. Michael
Hi Michael,
I think in general the loose grip is vital.
The only occasion may be when you are forcing a block you can tighten your hand a little. The other time is if you are playing with long pimples you may need to vary the tension in your hand for various shots to either relax for absorb a fast ball or tighten slightly to force a softer ball.
The forehand counterhit or forehand drive is the foundation for more attacking strokes such as the forehand topspin or forehand loop. There are 3 critical factors:
If you concentrate on these 3 factors then your stroke will become extremely consistent. Once you can reliably hit 100 balls in a row then you are ready for more attacking strokes. If you can hit 1,000 balls on in a row then you know you've truly mastered the stroke.
