Manufacturing table tennis table - Wood or Formica

Assalam u alikum. I am ordering carpenter to manufacture a new table tennis table . I want your esteem advice that whether should I use farmica on the upper surface of table or just paint on the upper wood surface of table?

Hi Faraz,
I think wood painted is better. The Formica will be a bit too fast and not enough grip.
