Hi,

I was playing very well, beating most people, even beat my coach a major upset, not once but twice, however i started practicising just before going in for play, 1 or 2 hours with my robot and started losing continously, i do all your training drills , am i tired or is my mind set too much to the drills? i dont understand i am losing to everyone or playing really very badly.

 need urgent help

thanks

Hi Shay,

A couple of things could be happening here.  One is that you now have some expectations because of your good form previously.  With the expectations come some tension.

Secondly, if you are talking about training 1 to 2 hours just before matches, it is probably too much.

Just before matches you should hit for 30 minutes or so and focus more on the service and return and third ball drills rather than footwork or training drills.

You need to do things that are going to help you directly with what you will be doing in the match.

I hope this helps you.

#33 - Defending with the Block

One thing you can be sure of is that every top player will be able to keep the ball on the table with a solid block when under pressure. It seems that this is a pre-requisite to becoming a good player. That's why in this training session we focus on improving your block. If you can absorb your opponent's attack you will be in a good position to win a match against them.
