I just bought some new rubber.  One set is the 729 Cream with Transcend Sponge, and the other set is the 729 SP Ultra Tack with Transcend Sponge.  When playing with high level players, I can very consistently do fast low topspin strokes, and even consistently do topspin sidespin rallies with power, low height, and speed.

However, when I do the training and drills like the ones you can do alone, the rubber seems to be very dead.  Just bouncing the ball up and down, I have to put a lot of effort into it (more than normal).

Are these rubbers advised for training?  What other rubbers are good to start out with?  I've heard a lot that Yasaka Mark V is good to start out with.  How about Tibhar Nimbus?  Maybe Donic Coppa?  I don't want to go and get stuff like Acuda S1 Turbo or really fast rubber, but I would like something consistent and smooth to learn with, preferably a little on the softer side, to be used with a faster blade.

Hi Stephen,

I haven't used those rubbers.  The rubbers we recommend for players in your position are Yasaka Mark V.  Of course these aren't the on;y rubbers you can use but they are one that we know will be good.
