Training
Hi Alois!, i have gone to a table tennis ranking last month!, i reached 1/8 finals and lost to one of the best players of Costa Rica! It was only 2 sets. I lost the first 11-8 and the second 15-13! I have won alot of points on short service, The reason why he lost so many points on the short service was because i varied the spin and placement very well.
Question: When i train my consistency on my strokes, can i improve on making as much as i can on the table without making a mistake? like for example: i try getting to 100 this week on the table without making a mistake, 200 next week without and making a mistake.
Do you think this is effective?
Hi Pasquale,
You have come a long way since we first had contact. Well done.
I thin consistency training is a good way of improving technique. It is also important to be able to implement your strokes in to a game situation which usually only requires you to make the shot once or twice in a rally but also coming from different positions to make the shot.
Although attacking is the most popular style at the top level in Table Tennis, it is important to be able to defend well. If you choose to play a defensive style then you should be practicing these strokes all the time. If you play an attacking stroke then you should still try and find some time for these strokes. If you can win one extra point by defending well when pressured, it could make the difference between winning and losing.
