Hey coach I'm mark and I want to know about ox pimples
Hi Mark,
Ox pimples just mean they don't have any sponge under them. It is a little bit harder to control the ball but it can give more effect when hit correctly.
There's is an old saying about guitar playing - tone is in your fingers. And If you've ever seen a really good guitarist play an old guitar then you'll understand how true that saying is. I know we go on a lot about this topic but it is so true. Once you've got yourself a decent bat, it's no longer up to the equipment, it's up to YOU!

Yes you will feel the ball on the wood through the pimples.

When I changed to LP, I also did some research about different sponge thickness. All things being equal, it seems that having sponge is better for chopping. Having no sponge (OX) allows maximum spin reversal, and makes it easier to play closer to the table and still handle the incoming spin and speed. I personally opted for OX because I wanted to be a close-to-the-table LP player.
