Strategy
Dear Coach,
My game is at the table and stays most of time at 50-60cm from table. This enables me to attack fast (Topspin) and perform sharp block on topspin. Against good players who serves pendulum serves and Topspin on their third ball I perform well.
However, this week I played against a fast and agressive attack loop player who stays away from table (little or no spin).
Her serve is a simple fast and swift topspin loop and then stand back at 3-4 mt away. Irrespective of whether the ball is high or slow she will perform an aggressive stroke (less spin) without big effort.
The serve was so fast that I had to stand at 1 mt away and return the ball.
Finally, I noticed that I was defending at 2-3 mt away and she destroys me on the next shot.
Can you give us some advice of whether we should stay close to table most of the time and also how to paly against the far from table players who are fast attackers.
Regards
Rama
Hi Rama,
You need to be patient. As they are away from the table you can use the angle to make them move. This will allow you to get a weaker stroke from your opponent.
Try to stay close as long as you feel comfortable there.
