For topspin, when to hit the ball? When ball is rising after the bounce or at the highest point or when it just starts to dip? Which point of contact will give the best result? Does it also depends if the opponents hits a with a back spin or fast counter?

Hi Abhinav,

You can the a topspin from any of these points.  Probably the easiest point to start with is as the ball is just starting to fall. Experiment for yourself and see which feels right for you.

Trying to hit the ball as it is rising can be difficult but it is also effective because it gives your opponent less time.

The top of the bounce can be better for faster topspins.

If your opponent plays a backspin ball, you will need to play a more vertical stroke in order to lift the backspin. However you can still try hitting the ball at different points along it's trajectory. Off a backspin ball I find that the top of the bounce is the best place for me against backspin.
