Hi, I would like to know what should be the position of the free hand. Should it be still or move inline with the ball? I usually move it in the direction my body and I was told by some senior players that it is not right and infact asked me to put it in the short's pocket and play.

Hi Razeef,

The free hand is used to balance you through your stroke.  It should be in a comfortable position.  One of the big mistakes players make is that the free hand waves around too much and throws them off balance.

This may be what was happening with you and that is why you were advised to put your hand in your pocket to stabilise it a little. It should just be an extension of your shoulder.
