Hi Alois and Jeff!

I would just like to ask how do you transter and get power from your legs? I tried all the things I read about but I think none can give me a detailed explanation. I saw transfering weight on a DVD I bought it I think it was just stepping with the foot you're gonna transter it too. Care to shed some light on this?

Hi Carlo,

There is a little transfer from your back leg to your front leg.  For a right hander doing a forehand that means from the right to the left.  For a backhand it is from your left to right.

At the point of impact with the ball, your weight should be in the middle.

The Footwork of Ma Long

In this video we discuss the footwork of Ma Long. He has strong legs, a great basic position with feet wide apart and his knees bent. He also jumps into position keeping his feet apart as if there was a steel rod between his knees. A great way of seeing this in action is to watch a video of him playing and cover the top half of the screen so you can concentrate on his legs and waist.
