Is it okay to lift up the other side of the table and practicing like that?

You can do that if you don't have the option of a hitting partner. It is a little bit limited though because the ball comes back to you in a different way than it would in a game but it is good for basic hitting and getting better control.
Don't just hit your third ball attack as fast as you can every time. Firstly it is a risky strategy and secondly your opponent starts to anticipate your shots.
