Practicing alone smash and chop

Hi Alois.

I need some advise on practicing alone. I watched that video practicing alone but now I need to practice my power shots and chop could you please help.

Hi Thomas,

It is difficult to practice everything by yourself.

For the power shots you could drop the ball on the table yourself and then hit it fast.  You would probably need quite a few balls to do this otherwise you will spend your whole time picking up balls.

Chop is harder again... Other may have some suggestions for you for this one.

Unless you are a defender you won't be practicing chopping regularly. However the chop is a great way to stay in the point if you are out of position and is also a difficult variation for your opponent to deal with.

Thanks Alois it helped a lot, my power shots are a lot more powerful now that I can practice my shots alone, Thomas

practicing chop (not push) alone is quite easy, I think. just throw the ball to the wall, let it bounce once on the floor, then chop it to the wall, let it bounce, chop again, and again, and again....

you still need a partner tough, so you can practice chopping the faster ball (the ball tends to move slow when you practice the chop alone)
