Predicting return

Strategy

Hey Alois & Jeff, I can't seem to predict where my opponent is going to return my serve... For instance, let's say I serve it short, idk if he's going to push it short or long to one of the corners and he ends up out smarting me and returns it where I'm not expecting it....  How can I improve in this area?

Thanks Guys

Hi Collin,

You will find that after serving the same serve for a long time you will start to get used to the returns that you will get.  That is one of the reasons a lot of top players have only a few serves that they use often.

At this stage keep doing a wide range of serves and after a while you will start to feel which serves suit you best.  You may feel uncertain about the return coming at this stage but after a few years you will start to get the feeling for it.

For now just watch carefully and track the ball the best you can.
