Hi Yoan,

The most important thing is to focus on your serve and return as well as your third ball.  Also mainly focus on your strengths because that is what is going to win you points.  You are not going to change your weaknesses too much in the last few days.

I think the best thing is to start to focus on things like focus during training.  This will help you to concentrate in matches as well.

Then in a match situation, you can think about remaining calm through some deep breathing.  We are in the process of planning this unit of our lessons.

You can also look through previous Ask the Coach questions by searching for Mental preparation at the top of the Ask the Coach page.

Here's a little story of mine, there was a Table Tennis tournament inter Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore under 19 in 2011, what i did was i used to think at night that the next morning im going to practice my drives, loops, smashes serves and my reactions etc. And i did nothing due to my laziness. the last full day i spent in practice and i that all my pools and i got eliminated.

In 2012 the same tournament..... I won it and came first.. In 2012 i practiced day - after - day, practice right before the tournament wont help, you need to practice day - after - day, in fact..... dont even think about that u have a tournament tomorrow, dont even practice the last day and stay calm.... In the tournament stay clam and have the state of mind that YES!!!  I CAN DO THIS !!!!

GOODLUCK!
