Hi Alois and Pingskills

i see a lot of matches and when some player start the defense the player that is smashing doesn't do it like you show in your videos...i see a litle topspin in the smash...Why they smash this????

Hi Cristh,

The smash with a bit of topspin is a little safer but not as fast.  A lot of players will play this type of stroke till they get a shorter ball and then use a flat fast smash to try and win the point.

The idea with the topspin type smash is to place the ball well so that the defending player can't attack you.  They are forced to stay defensive.  When they stray short the attacker can take advantage.
