hey alois.... yesterday i played the tournament i mentioned earlier... i won my matches with the unseeded players with ease... but in the 4th round i played sanil shetty, india rank 3... a phenomenal player who could produce winners at will... now im 20 yrs old, have been playin since 1.5 yrs and making tremendous and rapid improvement for my age....(i play 6 hrs a day).. but one thing i have realised while playing state level players is that while among themselves they make amazing returns and have beautiful rallies, when i play against them i simply do not have time to react to a shot when they attack.. dont tell me not to allow them to attack coz when playin the same shot against a player of their level it gets returned....is it that i've got naturally slow reflexes (worrisome) ? or is it that my age is too old to reach a competetive level? pls reply this has been botherng me...

Hi Azhar,

To be able to keep up with these players you need time and more practice.  You can't just compete with them at their speed easily.  Keep working at it and with time and more training you will start to be able to track the ball at those speeds.  Your body starts to become conditioned to it.  Give it time and good quality training.  In training you need to be hitting the ball at that pace consistently to be able to do it in a match situation.

look at the way there bat is facing so you can guess where they are playing the ball before they do it helps with being able to get to the ball in time but you have to guess spin and power a lot i find midrange is best

Azhar,

Even though you are starting older you can still reach a good level, especially training those sort of hours.  Just keep working hard and see where you can get to.
