Hi Alois,

I have a big problem with reaction. It's too slow. How can I learn to react fast? What exercises should I do to make it better?

Thank you for help.

Hi Tomas,

I think one of the best ways to improve reactions is to use multi-ball for training.  Get a friend to learn how to feed multi-ball and feed the balls out faster than normal rallying pace.  This will start to improve your speed of reactions.

The next important step though is to do it with one ball.  Get your training partner to hit the ball anywhere on the table and learn to track the ball well so that you give yourself the best opportunity to react to the ball.  YOu need to then learn to track the ball well all the way in and out.

Forehand Counterhit

The forehand counterhit or forehand drive is the foundation for more attacking strokes such as the forehand topspin or forehand loop. There are 3 critical factors:

  1. Your feet position
  2. Your start position
  3. Your finish position

If you concentrate on these 3 factors then your stroke will become extremely consistent. Once you can reliably hit 100 balls in a row then you are ready for more attacking strokes. If you can hit 1,000 balls on in a row then you know you've truly mastered the stroke.
