How should you receive or counterhit a ball when its (1) Chopped or (2) Topspinned towards the center of your body, say,if it flies on your chest level?

Hi Cris,
If you don't have time to move just sway your body slightly to get your racket into position. This is easier if you are well balanced. This is another reason why having good bend legs and being in a low position will help your game. From a low position it is easier to make that movement with your upper body without moving your feet and still remain balanced. Of course if yo have time, move into a slightly better position to make a more attacking stroke.

Most drills involve one person performing the exercise and the other placing the ball as required by the exercise. We call this person placing the ball the controller. When you are acting as the controller it is a great opportunity to practice your blocking and concentration. As blocking is an important part of the game you should be 100% focused at this time. You also owe it to your training partner to be blocking effectively so they get the most from their exercise.
