Receiving
Hello Jeff and Alois,
I enjoyed a lot watching DVD from PINGSKILLS, they are very nice and useful although I haven't got practice yet.
I have two question regarding short push: After watching your DVD, I started to understand how to receive different services with different ways, how could I receive sidespin and topspin service, or mixed service which are very short and very low, because it would be also difficult to flip, but if you do push, the ball very be too high.
Second question, when I receive service which are long and fast with backspin, my topspin has to be very light or better harder, when the opponent block or play back, does the ball still have spin? Should I still play back with topspin or smash
thanks
Linda
Hi Linda,
When trying to push the short topspin serves you need to have a very vertical bat and come down on the ball. You also need to have a very soft relaxed hand.
On the second topspin you can come over the ball with a brushing action to get the ball on the table. It is better not to smash because this is a less safe shot.
To be able to receive serve effectively, you need to know how the ball will react when it hits your bat with different types of spin. We go into detail to explain this with the use of our disc wheel.
