Equipment
I bought Stag power drive plus around 3 weeks ago and the racket is making a hollow sound when it hits the ball. Is the rubber not opened up properly, what should I do to open it up?
Also a lot of dust in stick to the grip. How can I remove this?
Hi Tanmay,
Regarding the hollow sound you mentioned, try pressing the rubber down around the edges and across the blade to ensure it's securely attached. It could just be the sound of the wood. Some blades sound more hollow than others.
As for the dust sticking to the grip, a simple solution is to wipe it down with a slightly damp cloth. Avoid using too much water or any harsh cleaning agents as they can damage the material of the grip. Once wiped, let it dry completely before you use it again. Regular cleaning after playing will also help to maintain the grip and prevent dust build-up in the future.
There's is an old saying about guitar playing - tone is in your fingers. And If you've ever seen a really good guitarist play an old guitar then you'll understand how true that saying is. I know we go on a lot about this topic but it is so true. Once you've got yourself a decent bat, it's no longer up to the equipment, it's up to YOU!
