Equipment
I'm not sure if this is a question that can be answered, but I thought I'd give it a shot: how should I go about switching a blade that I used as a junior that isn't manufactured anymore? The blade is Steffen Fetzner Topspeed (Joola). (I started playing again after almost 20y hiatus.) You can see the blade in the first results here: https://www.google.com/search?q=fetzner+topspeed+joola&espv=2&biw=1268&bih=931&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjKgOSs1ZLRAhXIKiwKHaz8DssQ_AUICCgD&dpr=0.9
I do like the blade (now with Tenergy rubbers), but the fact is that it's pretty much irreplaceable and not in the greatest of conditions either.
I haven't quite followed the equipment scene and I'm not quite sure what to look for. I really like the feeling of the blade and I guess it's pretty fast too (not comparable to modern fast blades, sure, but anyhow). There's a thread on some forum about the Fetzner blade: http://mytabletennis.net/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=64448&title=joola-fetzner-topspeed-from-80s
So with the multitude of choices nowadays I'm not even sure where to start. Anyone got any suggestions based on these pretty vague descriptions of the blade? :-)
Hi Jarno,
Let's see if anyone has any suggestions for you.
It would be good to find something comparable for you. Or someone may even have an old one lying around...
There's is an old saying about guitar playing - tone is in your fingers. And If you've ever seen a really good guitarist play an old guitar then you'll understand how true that saying is. I know we go on a lot about this topic but it is so true. Once you've got yourself a decent bat, it's no longer up to the equipment, it's up to YOU!
