Hi,

My name is Aditya. I am often faced with a situation when the opponent flicks a lot and I am not able to return it. How do I return a FH or BH flick? Also I am not able to hit a FH flick as the ball either goes into the net or flies off the table. Please help

Hi Aditya,

When someone flicks to you the key is to be able to move back quickly enough to take the ball. Often we get caught too close to the table.

The other thing is that the flick often feels heavier on your bat because it can tend to be quite a flat shot.  This forces a lot of mistakes to go into the net.  If this is the case then focus on lifting the batt a little with a small topspin action when they flick to you.

To learn the flick take a look at the lessons on the Forehand Flick.  The real key to this stroke is the preparation with your wrist before the shot. Take particular note of that and you will find the stroke will improve quickly.
