How to return a ball when the opponent is playing a push in the anti bat?

Hi Anirudh,

The push with anti spin will depend on what spin you have put on it.

If you put backspin on it and they push it back with anti spin then it will come back to you with some topspin.  If you put topspin and they push or chop or block it back, then it will come back with backspin.  Then you just deal with this ball like you would any other backspin or topspin ball.

You can take control of what type of spin comes back to you.

Tactics Against Penhold Players

When playing penhold players it is important to remember to first analyse your opponent as you would if they used any grip. What are their strengths and weaknesses? A common weakness of penhold players is their forehand block especially against a slow spinny topspin. Their backhand may be a weakness if they use the traditional style, or you may wish to explore the crossover point if they are using the reverse penhold backhand.
