Hi Poh,

If they have put sidespin on the ball you need to allow for the spin with the angle of your racket.  If the ball wants to go out to the left then angle your bat to face the right.  This will counteract the natural tendency for the ball to go to the left.

If you are having problems purchase a copy of the Receiving Secrets Revealed DVD.  This will give you clear explanations and also show in you detail how to return different types of serves.

Alois,I think there is some confusion (maybe, on my part) on your answer on returning sidespin. If the ball is curving to the RECEIVERS right and the receiver holds his blade perfectly square to the table, then the ball will kick out to the RECEIVERS left; therefore, the RECEIVER should return the ball with the blade angled to the right to keep it on the table. Is this correct or am I totally confused on wording or what? Love this site, Steve

Hi Steve,

Now I am confused.  I think we are saying the same thing... but it has been a long day...
