Returning Too Long

Strokes

I am hitting the ball off the end of the table on 20-30% of the time. I am trying to hit the ball long, but over do it by 4 to 5 inches. It is costing me too many points. What should I do ?

Hi Alan,

Focus on getting a little more topspin on the ball.  This will make the ball dip more quickly onto the table rather than flying long.

Give this a try and see how it goes.

Forehand Topspin Variations

A great weapon is being able to vary the amount of speed and spin on your forehand topspin stroke. By making your stroke more vertical and brushing the ball finely, you can generate more spin. For more speed you need to swing more horizontally.
