Whats the best way to return a loop with the penhold? backhand or forehand?

And also what should my goal be when I'm training solo.  I have a table and I have bend the other side so I can play solo but what should my goal be?

How to practice serves solo?

Thank you for spending your time for us.

Hi Salar,

You can block the ball with either your backhand or forehand when using penhold.  I think the backhand feels more comfortable because it is more difficult to turn your hand over the ball with the forehand but this is adjustable by relaxing your fingers and hand.

When practising by ourself you can have a lot of things to work on.  You can work on your consistency by hitting the ball up against the other half of the table.  You can practice your serve easily by yourself.   There are several aspects to work on, spin, placement or you can work on developing a new serve.

The Controller

Most drills involve one person performing the exercise and the other placing the ball as required by the exercise. We call this person placing the ball the controller. When you are acting as the controller it is a great opportunity to practice your blocking and concentration. As blocking is an important part of the game you should be 100% focused at this time. You also owe it to your training partner to be blocking effectively so they get the most from their exercise.
