Serving
Hey Alois,
In a couple of tournaments I have played, my best serve I have been doing to get points is the revers pendulum serve with backspin. When I need points I use it , but after a while my opponent strts lifting it back on the table so I do the reverse pendulum topspin serve expecting them to hit it out. But it is evident that I am doing the serve with topspin as my actions for both the serves are different. When I try the same action, it just turns into a no spin serve. Is there anything youcan suggest ?
Thanks,
Nishant.
Hi Nishant,
We have just filmed a new video on the Reverse Pendulum serve showing all the variations of the spin including topspin. This will be available soon.
With the topspin serve think about it as just adding a little topspin to the serve but still having a lot of sidespin. By having the sidespin with a little topspin you add to the difficulty for the receiver. If you try to do a straight topspin serve it will be easy for your opponent to recognise the difference. You can think about hitting the ball a little later in the swing of the serve so the bat is moving up when you hit it.

Meanwhile, try and make sure you keep the same motion for all variations but hit the ball in different points in the swing :)
