Hi,

Firstly, I'd just like to say I love your videos! They've been really helpful.

I'm a penhold player and I'm starting to learn the reverse backhand. Currently I hold the bat relatively far from the rubber. The fingers on the back are curled and relaxed instead of spread out on the rubber. I find it easier to do the RPB when I spread the fingers out to support the bat; sometimes I even move the finger on the front to the back for extra support. The backhand works well so far but I can't move the fingers back in time to the normal position.

Do you recommend that I move the fingers and practise moving them back and fourth, or doing the RPB with my normal grip? It works as well, but I need to use more energy to get the bat straight.

Hi Raymond,

You shouldn't make big changes to your grip between the forehand and backhand, as you have found out, you don't have enough time.

Try to do the RPB with close to the normal grip.  You can adjust your fingers slightly.  Keep them relaxed.
