Hi Ping Skills,

I have started playing penhold about 6 months ago and i have an extremley powerful and spinny forhand however my backhand i can only use for blocking so when I play against other teams in the league they always play to my backhand. So I spoke to my coach about this and he suggest the reverse backhand i can use this only of a short serve with no spin on it but when i choose to use it in a rally I end up hitting it miles high and off the table I was just wondering if u have any tips to help me use the reverse backhand in a rally and to win the point

Thanks in advance

Hi James,

The hardest part of the Reverse Penhold Backhand (RPB) is getting the angle right.  It takes a long time to do this.

I would suggest you persevere with it and watch to see the balls that go long.  Next time, work on getting the bat angle more over the ball.  In the rally, it i soften about getting over the top of the ball.  Focus on your fingers allowing your bat to angle over the ball.
