Serving
Can you tell me how to do a reverse tomahawk serve?
Hi Maaz,
In some ways it is similar to a normal topspin serve. You need to bend your knees to get down very low so you can hit the ball and keep it low over the net. Keep your bat vertical and hit the ball in front of your body. If you are right handed, you need to swing the bat from your right to your left. This way you will brush the side of the ball to generate the sidespin. You can also come slightly underneath the ball to add a bit of backspin or go slightly over the ball to add some topspin. You do this by changing the angle of the bat slightly from vertical.

should the contact be near the top of the bat

Yes, contact the ball near the top because it is moving faster and will allow you to generate more spin.

Hi Maaz,
Changing direction of your stroke just requires a small change in the angle of your racket. Just experiment with the angles to get the ball to go to the forehand side.
