Hi, First of all I would like appreciate your work on Table Tennis. Special thanks for Ur Videos.

I would like to know the role of Sponge on a TT bat. I personally dont like the bat to be too spongy. Also can you throw some light on long and short pip rubbers.

Thanks in advance..

Hi Razeef,

Thanks for the kind words.

The sponge helps you to be able to spin the ball.  It adds a layer of cushioing for the ball to sink into when you are hitting it.  This helps to wrap the rubber around the ball to help to spin it.

Long pimples have the effect of reversing the spin on the ball.  It is difficult to genreate your own spin with long pimples.

Short pimples flatten out the spin.  They are good for fast flat hitting.  You can't get as much spin with short pimples as you can with inverted pimples.

I hope this helps.

Hey,

Often you have to clean your table tennis bat .. And most people say the best method and cheapest is to breath on it and rub it with your wrist or the inside of your hand.

Well I was wondering, can you also use steam (Boiled Water) on it so you don\'t have to continuesly to breath on it ?

\'\'Using steam on it\'\' I mean holding the bat above the boiling water or something that gives steam off.

Thank you,,

Danny :)
