Hey Alois, I have just bought a new paddle, but it has mold problems, the sponge on the black side is slanted on the top from thickest to thinnest, is that illegal? The rubber is coming out of the side, how could I fix it? Could I use super glue?

Hi Joshua,

The rubber should be an even level over the whole bat.  What type of bat is it?

Make sure you buy a table tennis bat that is suitable for your level and allows you to develop your technique. For your first bat we recommend the PingSkills Rook, and when you upgrade to a custom bat we recommend the PingSkills Touch with Mark V or Rakza 7.

This is a premade bat for more of the beginner level.  You can try sticking it down again.  This will be a temporary measure.  As you go along you can think about upgrading your bat that will allow you to get a more even surface and to be able to learn your shots more effectively.

Can I use super glue?

I don't think it would work that well.  It may stick but it would effect the rubber.

If I use super glue, what will be the effects on the rubber?

Super glue will probably ruin the rubber and effect the sponge.  Haven't run the experiment though.
