Hi Alois & Jeff,

I'm using rubber with 2,2mm sponge thickness for my backhand. I used a lot of backhand topspin, but I'm not feeling comfortable when topspinning the ball and i just don't feel the wood at all. Do you think my sponge is too thick? Anyway, what sponge thickness do you use for ur BH and FH ?

Can you also tell me the importance when choosing sponge hardness & sponge thickness ?

Thank you

Hi Ernest,

If you want more control with the backhand it is better to switch to a thinner rubber, perhaps 1.8mm or 2mm.

I use 2.2 on both sides but feel comfortable with it.  You need to get the thickness that you feel comfortable with.  Thicker rubber will make it faster and give you the ability to generate more spin.  Harder or softer rubber just depends on your own preference of feel.
