Rubbers

Hey Alois/Jeff,

I am wondering what rubbers you would recommend for my playing styles with both my forehand and my backhand. With my forehand I am an aggressive player liking to use the forehand loop and spinny serves; with my backhand, since I am a penhold player, I rarely use it but when I do it will usually be an attacking stroke most often being the backhand topspin.

Also, one of my friends thinks that when one serves it has hit the opponents side only once and then it must leave the table. Is this true?

Thanks guys,

Maxwell

Hi Maxwell,

We recommend either Mark V or Yasaka Pryde.  The Pryde are a little faster than the Mark V.  If you are a more advanced player I would recommend XIOM Vega Pro.  For the backhand you could use any of those rubbers as well depending on your level of control.  The more control you have the faster the rubber you can use.

Regarding the serve it can bounce more than once on the table.  In fact that is a good serve.

Choosing a Table Tennis Bat

Make sure you buy a table tennis bat that is suitable for your level and allows you to develop your technique. For your first bat we recommend the PingSkills Rook, and when you upgrade to a custom bat we recommend the PingSkills Touch with Mark V or Rakza 7.

Thanks Alois, when I was playing and my friend who thought that it had to bounce only once and could bounce no more on the opponents side, I thought it was weird because when I watch table tennis nine times on of ten the player has to lean in to return the serve which indicates that there would have been multiple bounces had the player not returned the serve. Thanks for clearing this up !
