Hi Adrian,

This is a common problem.  The faster you move your wrist the further the ball will go... But the finer you contact the ball the shorter it will go.  So to get the ball to spin a lot and go short you need to move your wrist fast but it is also really important that you hit it really fine.  If you can do these two things you will get a good short spin serve.

We show this in our DVD Serving Secrets Revealed

I am not sure what you mean by off-spin.

it just means means to spin towards the left side of the table.

Then you should brush the side of the ball.  We have this covered in our series of lessons on Serving Secrets.  This covers this area comprehensively.

Hi Jeff,

Could you provide more details and tips on short serves in order to have ball hit bat placed (one and a half bat) other side of net, as I find it difficult to get the ball hit bat given a large margin of error.

Hi Chau,

Making the target smaller can focus you better.  Place a dot on the table or a broken ball.  The smaller the target the better your focus will get.

Try to hit the ball from quite high.  A lot of players hit the ball too low when trying to do a short serve.
