Is it legal to deliberately serve with the ball hitting the hand. This provides a good deception because the hand is softer than a bat. But is it legal?

Hi Tim,

Yes it is legal but it will not really be effective.  It comes out too slowly and gives your opponent too much time.

Doubles Serving Rules

In this video we go over the somewhat complicated rules of serving for doubles in table tennis. There are a couple of extra rules for doubles that you don't apply to singles. In doubles you always serve from the right hand box diagonally to your opponent's right hand box. Each player has 2 serves each. If you've just been receiving then it's your turn to serve next.

Maybe with a huge movement and the ball still going pretty short and completely spinless (for obvious reasons)

Happy New Year to you Jean... Maybe we can experiment with the rubber... They would be very handy shots to be able to play...
