Hi coach. Sorry if i had been asking so many questions lately. I also have problems in reading serves. I already know how to return different kinds of spin in a service.

My next problem is reading the serve during a game. even when I pay close attention to the racket of my opponent, Sometimes, my mind would eventually go messy and make me do reckless strokes. I can't also clearly see the angles of my opponent's racket upon the contact to the ball. Is there a way how I can read the serves perfectly or at least accurately? thanks again.

Hi Wayne,

If you understand the basics of reading spin then now this is a time and experience issue.

There are so many small and subtle variations that you can make with your serve that gives a slight change in spin.  To quantify these in words is impossible.  You need to receive thousands and thousands of serves to make it an automatic response and to be able to see those changes.

the best idea now for you is to get the best servers you can find and get them to serve to you as many times as possible.  You can do it under the guise of them practicing their serves while you return the ball for them!

If you don't have a copy you can also purchase Receiving Secrets Revealed which goes through many principles of receiving serve.
