serving away from the border

hi Alois,

if my serve after landing on my opponents court moves away from him sideways,is it wrong? I mean if it passes any of the borders at the side of the table without passing the end border where my opponent is standing?plz inform me.

Hi Farhan,

You are allowed to serve the ball so that after bouncing it moves off the side of the table.

The only time this is not permitted is in Wheelchair Table Tennis.

Doubles Serving Rules

In this video we go over the somewhat complicated rules of serving for doubles in table tennis. There are a couple of extra rules for doubles that you don't apply to singles. In doubles you always serve from the right hand box diagonally to your opponent's right hand box. Each player has 2 serves each. If you've just been receiving then it's your turn to serve next.
