Serving

Hi! I have been playing ping pong for several months. Lately I wanted to try and go deeper so I bought my first pre-assembled bat, which has the Flextra rubber on both sides. I followed some of your videos, especially the one about serving techniques. I have constantly been trying out the sidespin, the backspin serves but it seems that there's not much spin to it to curve the ball or even affect the spin of the ball. Is it me, or my paddle? Thanks..

Hi Nicholas,

Unfortunately, we can't blame the paddle at this stage.  The Flextra rubber should allow you to generate enough spin to get the ball to curve.

Focus on the contact of the bat on the ball.  Step away from the table and see if you can get the ball to curve on the floor or carpet.  When you can do this then step back to the table and try to get some spin on the table.  You can build up to doing serves that curve.

We have a DVD dedicated to serving which would help.  You can purchase the Serving Secrets Revealed DVD through our DVDs page on our site.
