Strokes

I have just started getting lessons and my coach has told me that my grip is incorrect. He has told me that I need to place my index finger on the back of the bat.

Is it really necessary for me to do this? I have been playing for ages without doing this?

Thanks,

James

Hi James,

Your coach is correct. When you use the shakehand grip, then it is essential that you have your index finger positioned correctly.

By placing your finger on the back you will more easily determine the angle of your bat and have greater control over the racket head. And as you improve, the correct grip will enable you to perform some of the more advanced strokes more easily.

Checkout our lesson on the grip for detailed instructions with some photos - and we will be adding some video very shortly.
