Hi Alois and Pingskills

I play table tennis 4 years ago and i always played with penhold grip. I study in the university, so i can't go to training a lot. My level is so bad now, besides i feel hurt in my fingers because of penhold grip so is really difficult to play. If i change to shakehand grip (for comfort), i'll have problems??

Please help

Hi Cristh,

You can try changing.  See how it feels.  You will find there will be a lot of similarities behind the two grips but trying to change can also be frustrating.

Strawberry Flick

The strawberry flick is the opposite of the banana flick and involves utilising the wrist to get the ball spinning with topspin and sidespin. Used in conjunction with the banana flick it can be very deceptive. The banana flick is a more reliable stroke and that's why you see more top players using it over the strawberry flick.

Hi Alois,

Today i tried the shakehand grip, and i loved it. I could feel my forehands with more speed, spin and control, the blocks was just amazing (the feeling is something incredible), the backhand is exactly like RPB. I felt lack of spin in my serves and recieving is a little different, but the shakehand grip is amazing, i am going to change forever.
THANKS A LOOT FOR THE ADVICE!!
