hello pingskills i have a question and i would be happy if u (professionals) could "teach" me. My question is: What is the "long pips out" rubber and what is the "short pips out rubber". I mean which one is 4 attack and which for defence(antispin). where do i use the long pips out an wher the short pips out? which one is for speed and spin?

Hi George,

Usually the Short Pips is for attacking and the Long Pips is for defence.

With the short pips the ball hits the pips and comes out quickly. It does not have as much surface area on the ball as a reverse ips rubber so does not generate as much spin but can be good for fast flat attacks.

With the long pips the ball sinks into the pips and reverses spin. It is ideal for defesive chopping because the more topspin your opponent puts on the ball the more backspin they get back.

If you wnat to generate your own spin use the reverse pips.
