short pips backhand

im sorry. i play short pips on backhand and i would like to ask if i need to flick my bat while performing a backhand shot or do i just push the ball over? also, do i need to keep my bat surface more slanted(closed)?

Hi,

You can use the short pips to play backhands.  You just need to open the bat a little more when hitting attacking strokes. 

You can perform quite strong flicks or attacks.  You won't generate as much topspin on the ball but you will generate good speed.
