Hi alois

I'm Ricky Rajab, Bill Rajab's son.  You used to coach him and he was the Australian champion.

Anyway my question is what is the easiest and quickest way to learn to hit the ball with side spin.

Hi Ricky,

I certainly did coach your Dad.  He was a very good player which is something I am proud to say I had something to do with.  He really started me on the path of coaching when he walked into the club as a 12 year old.

If you are wanting to learn to put sidespin on the ball the best way is away from the table.  Try to get the ball to curve the ball in the air or on the ground.  Imagine a curved line on the floor and try to get the ball to follow that path.

Once you can do that then go closer to the table and get the ball to curve on the table.

No Spin Serve

It may sound like a bad idea but the no spin serve can be effective when put together with a range of spin serves. In fact, this is a must have in your arsenal of serves.
