Sidespin forehand

Hi coach,

 im having troubles with my  forehand hook shot, 

1st: i miss the ball because of the awkward angle

2nd: by beding the wrist i create tension in my arms thus slowing down the movement and missing the ball

could u tell me how to improve on that?

Hi Shippy,

This is a high risk stroke because as you mention you are coming at the ball at an awkward angle. It does take a lot of practice to master.

Try to keep your arm as relaxed as possible even though your wrist is down.  So keep the wrist are ainparticular relaxed.  This will tend to keep the reat of the arm relaxed.

In short, practice it a lot if you really want touse it.  But remember to master the straight topspin first.  Then you can play around with these strokes.
