Strokes
Hello Coach
I am new here and as many others I have a question too for you . I dont know if sound stupid but I am unable to analyze what level of skill I currently have in terms of table tennis. I have never done any coaching before. I started playing when I was 12 and now i am 30. I can do topspin on underspin ball but only 5 times out of 10, i can chop, loop, smash, drive etc.
I am using Galaxy moon max rubber for FH and BH (don't know if thats the right one for me )
Just looking to get some advise from your side
Thanks
Hi Nim,
This is a difficult one to answer. Do you play in a club at all? I think getting to a club gives us a better feel for where we are. Doing this will allow you to get a ranking or play against players that have a ranking.
I would probably describe you as an intermediate level player. The Galaxy Moon is probably a good rubber for you. How does it feel for you? Is is too fast, not allowing you to control the ball or do you feel like you are able to make good strokes with it?
When your opponent plays a short ball to your forehand, you can play an attacking stroke by using the flick. This stroke is also known as the flip.

You are absolutely right Alois..Well I dont play in a club at all but I am planning to join one finally, as u said that will give me a feel of where i stand. I live in Melbourne so there are quite a few clubs around just gotta find out which one suits me the best.
About the rubber ( GALAXY MOON ), it really gives me a good feeling of control during the strokeplays, its fast and with good spin and control unlike the HURRICANE 3 which I was using before. When I was using H3 I had difficulty in controlling the ball coz sometimes the ball wud just fly off the table and other times it wud just flat hit the net meaning there was no consistency in speed However the only good thing about the H3 is its spin and looping abilities, Whenever i topspinned the ball 99% of times my opponent cudnt return it. That said I am liking Galaxy Moon way better then Hurricane 3 as its non-tacky ,fast and boucny rubber with medium throw. I reckon tacky chinese rubbers dont suit my gameplay and thats one thing I know
I have one more question for you sir i.e "ARE FAST SPINNY SERVES BETTER OR THE SLOW SPINNY ONES''?
Thanks heaps for advise

For me that fast spinny serves are good because of you're playing against, low-level player (beginner),
They do not have fast reaction time and makes it hard to return because it is spinny
Hi Nim,
Send me an email and let me know what area you are in and I will give you some advice on clubs that would be good for you.
Regarding the fast or slow serves, against a weaker player often the faster spin serves are better because they find the speed hard to control. However, in the long term, it is better to serve slower and shorter.
