Slow spinny topspin

Strokes

Hi,

I have been playing a fast topspin game since I started to play, but currently I find that it is usually more annoying for my oponents to deal with a slow spinny topspin than with a fast topspin. I have been training the very slow and spinny topspin since two weeks and it's working a lot. Could you recommend me a forehand rubber that can perform these kind of shots? And do you recommend me to use this stroke most of the times?

Thanks

Hi Xavi,

I think this is an under utilised stroke now.  If it is working then keep using it.

I used to find a rubber with a grippy surface was easier to make this type of stroke.  The Vega Pro is suitable.

Forehand Counterhit

The forehand counterhit or forehand drive is the foundation for more attacking strokes such as the forehand topspin or forehand loop. There are 3 critical factors:

  1. Your feet position
  2. Your start position
  3. Your finish position

If you concentrate on these 3 factors then your stroke will become extremely consistent. Once you can reliably hit 100 balls in a row then you are ready for more attacking strokes. If you can hit 1,000 balls on in a row then you know you've truly mastered the stroke.
